After a long trip we arrived in Phnom Penh in the middle of the night. Fortunately for us, after a
noticeable ride in a tuk tuk (with five people and all our luggage), we could still check-in our hostel: Goldie Boutique.
The first day at the RTTC was pleasant (you can find more information in an other message).
In the evening we went too the boat noodle restaurant in Phnom Penh. The Khmer food is tasty and not too spicy. Here in Cambodia it's the habit that everybody ordered something different and share his food. In that way you can taste everything. The main ingredient is, what you did expect, rice! The rice tastes different as we know in Belgium, much better. Hopefully we don't get to tired of it. An other recommendation are the spring rolls!
After the dinner we went back to our hostel, we still needed to arrange some things for our internship.
The next day we went back to the RTTC, although Phnom Penh is a western capital, you can see some remarkable things: (the chickens are still alive)
In the afternoon we went went with Stefaan (our internship promotor) too a typical Khmer restaurant.
By the evening we went for a walk in Phnom Pehn. The place before the Royal Palace was very crowded because all the Cambodians are mourning because their formal king (Norodom Sihanouk) died in October and this weekend he will be cremated. In every big street you can find large pictures of Everybody is free this Friday and Monday to mourn.
In short first impression of Phnom Penh, beautiful city, pity we didn't have enough time to visit many things bus off course we will go back in a few weeks!
