On the 24th of January we left Belgium. We took
the plane in Brussels and flew to London. In London we had to wait for about 2
hours. After 12h hours we arrived at Bangkok. We stayed there for two days,
visited some temples and arranged the bus to Phnom Penh. On Sunday morning we
went by taxi to the police station where the bus was waiting for us. After
picking up a few other passengers we drove to the border. At the border we had
to wait a long time to get a stamp for the visa. Because of that we missed the
bus at the next station and we had to wait for almost 2 hours. The intention
was to arrive at Phnom Penh at 7 o’ clock in the evening, but we arrived at 3
o’ clock in the night.
The first day at the RTTC (regional teacher
training center) was very interesting. We met the colleagues of the VVOB and
got some information about the internship and the SEAL programme. The second day
in the RTTC we presented our Prezi of the differences and remarkable things in
the Cambodian and Belgian cultures. Afterwards we did some paperwork.
Tomorrow we took the jeep taxi from Phnom Penh
to Kampong Cham. It was a very bad road, but they were working on it so it
probably will be better in 2015. Not that we are staying here so long, but
still...
During the trip to Kampong Cham we stopped and
stretched our legs at a local market. They were selling spiders, cockroaches
and other strange food. I’ve decided to wait a few weeks with eating bugs J. Maybe next month you will see a
picture of me eating a spider ;). When we wanted to leave from the market the
jeep didn’t started. There was a battery problem. They had to use jump lead (startkabels)
but afterwards the car was okay. We arrived well at Kampong Cham. In the
afternoon we met the teacher trainers and the director of the RTTC. They showed
us the labs and classes at the school and we have seen some students who were
making their exam. The meeting with the students will be tomorrow morning. I’m
really looking forward to it!
